JPG – (Jpeg) will always come with a solid color background.
PNG – Supports transparency, meaning you can have your logo with NO background. This is often used more than JPG.
These files have a limited resolution to them.
PSD – Photoshop file, that has each element in it’s own layer. This is best for those who request this file, you will have to have Adobe Photoshop in order to view and manipulate this file.
Ai – Illustrator file. This file is important because it contains all color codes, editable fonts, Limitless! vector quality, and is the basic raw file you will need for your business. It is the blueprint to creating any modified versions of your logo for the future.
You will need either Adobe Illustrator or something close to view/modify this file.
EPS / PDF – are known as vector files. This can be scaled to any size without losing resolution. PDF is often used more-so when creating marketing merchandise, you will notice your printing company asking for this file in order to print your merch.
You will need:
Ai, in case you want to change your colors or add other versions of your logo.
PDF, so you can submit this to your print shop.
PNG, so you can use this on your website, social media and documents.
A lot of people like to use online business card companies, so for those I recommend just the PDF and PNG files. They are standard for those platforms.
